A study by a group of Norwegian researchers from the University of Bergen, published in the journal Plos Medicine, suggests that certain foods can significantly affect life expectancy. To conduct this research, the authors relied on the results of the global burden of Disease Study – an annual analysis of the causes of disease in China, Europe and the United States.
It is estimated that malnutrition is responsible for more than 11 million premature deaths each year. They then compared this number with other analyses, looking at the effect of different foods on our longevity. So they were able to determine a specific diet regime that should provide us with an extension of life expectancy.
